As a branch of the Toyo tyre & Rubber Co., Ltd., Nitto tyre was founded in 1949 in Japan. In 1966, Toyo tyre became the first Japanese tyre manufacturer to establish a distribution branch in the United States, then began manufacturing tyres in the U.S. in the late 1980s.
